Preferences

1. Preferences.  You have them. I have them. We ALL have them. Much of our lives are centered around preferences.

Choose your preference. Democrat or Republican? Ford or Chevy? Mac or PC? Droid or iphone? East Coast or West Coast? Dogs or Cats? Boxers or Briefs? Left handed or Right handed? Biscuits or Cornbread? Pancakes or Waffles?  The list goes on…

Everything in our Society (industry, politics, branding, marketing, sales, and religion) appeals to your preferences.

Not only do you have your own preferences, but you also like to be preferred! You love it when your boss tells you that she would PREFER YOU to handle a situation or responsibility. You loved it when your friend preferred YOU to be in their wedding. You want to be preferred for the job, preferred for the speech, preferred for the award, etc.

You even choose friendships and alliances because of your similar preferences.  Some of your best friends have similar preferences as you.

2. It’s okay to have preferences, but it is NOT okay to bash the competitors.

Your preferences do NOT give you the authority to criticize.  Just because you like Mac doesn’t mean you have the right to bash PC.  You may prefer a sports team, but that doesn’t mean you have talk junk about other teams.  You may prefer a particular church, but you don’t have the right to be critical of another church.

Make your preferences known. But stop expressing your preferences by beating up the competition!

You don’t have to express hate for one in order to prove your love for another…
