Time Alone

Luke 4:42: “Early the next morning Jesus went out to an isolated place. The crowds searched everywhere for him, and when they finally found him, they begged him not to leave them.”

There was a time in my life when I was NEVER alone.  I made every excuse in the book to justify it. “I’m too busy,” “people need me,” “I love others,” “people energize me,” etc. I was the king of excuses.

Truth is, I was scared of being alone.  I confused being alone with being lonely. I found my value and significance in what others thought of me instead of what God had already said about me. I was insecure, doubtful, needy, and clingy.

I recently learned there is value in being alone. Now (nearly everyday) I make time to put down the ipod, the computer, the phone, the books, the Bible, etc, and I disappear. I get ALONE. All by myself.

You should try it.

Jesus did it, and it’s worth it!

    so true.

the times I’m least obedient, least patient with others and least likely to honor God with my actions are when I don’t find a moment of stillness.
